Our
Teaching Methodology – Using Simulation
A great and
practical way to develop strategic thinking and to understand the
dynamics of cross- functional decision
making has become the need of the
hour. Practical exposure for students to understand and fill the business
performance gaps with the inclusion of experiential learning has become vital
today with any B schools in Delhi NCR.
Christ Institute of Management organized a two day
rigorous experiential Simulation Workshop. This was delivered by an industry
expert with vast experience. It combined the complexities and the realistic
business environment with sessions to equip students with better understanding
of business concepts in an integrated manner. This
workshop was intended for aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. It
gave thorough insights into the meaning of ‘strategy’ and ability to make cross-functional
decisions. Obviously, it was a practical & fun-filled workshop. It had a
highly dynamic, reality based and action oriented sessions to appreciate how
cross-functional decisions affect overall business Strategy.
The experiential workshop was well
organized with concepts introduced at the right moments to enhance the quality
of learning experience of our students. These simulations helped to trigger a behaviour change by exposing gaps and
present opportunities. They also developed
diverse perspectives like a preview of the next level of responsibility, or the
view from another department’s perspective. Lot of the mental blocks were
cleared. Our Students
benefitted most by gaining exposure in applying concepts to real
situations. They converted the
theoretical knowledge to practical implementation. They understood the need of
formulating and synchronizing strategy with the market forces and stakeholder
goals and keeping the day-to-day micromanagement to a strategic role with a
long-term perspective. This gave a real sense of tracking financial impact
tools and framework in long-term financial impact of any major business
decisions. Meanwhile, keeping in mind the optimum positioning and customer
centricity and the acute awareness of the market potential.
The simulations helped student managers realize gaps and opportunities.
They achieved this by making them take decisions and act and then providing
real-time results and feedback on those decisions and the best practices
prevalent. Another feature was that students were able to step-into-the-shoes
of other functions, departments or business units, to understand their unique
pressures and levers. It gave great insights into how a company is actually run
and dispels a lot of notions that most of our students should know by working
in silos. The simulated environment traces real-world market forces and
practical problems.

It was
a good simulation with thoughtful insight into the market. The way to penetrate
into a new market and the financial and sales forecasting decisions to be
taken. It basically taught us how to know the customers better and acting
accordingly. Thank you so much
