As a part of Christ commitment to serve humanity, a blood donation
camp was organized by Christ (Deemed to be University) Delhi NCR Campus in
association with St. Joseph’s Hospital, Mariam Nagar and Ghaziabad Blood Bank
on 6 March 2020 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. A team of 12 doctors and nurses under
the supervision of Dr. Kesarvani, Head Ghaziabad blood bank conducted the
process of blood collection. Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Viju P Devassy, Campus
Director enlightened the students with his words and shared the importance of
blood donation. Chief Guest, Dr. Vishav Bandhu Jindal, Medical Superintendent, St.
Joseph’s Hospital and President of IMA, Ghaziabad, inaugurated the camp by
cutting the ribbon. He addressed about various misc
onceptions related to blood
donation. Besides, Sr. Edna, Administrator St. Joseph Hospital; Dr. Navjeevan
Singh, Senior Pathologist; Sr. Susila, Lab In-charge, St. Joseph Hospital were
also present.
There was an overwhelming
response and participation from faculty, staff and students. A total of 118
units of blood was collected in the camp. Some of the donors visited but could
not donate due to some medical reasons, observed after primary checkup. All
donors received a certificate of appreciation, donation card (carrying validity
of one year), and a memento. They were also given refreshments. The camp was
overall coordinated by the Institute of Management Christ (Deemed to be
University).
