Workshop on Logistic Regression through 'Orange: A Data Mining Toolkit’
RESOURCE PERSON AND BRIEF DETAILS
Dr. Ajay Kumar Chauhan
Assistant Professor, IMT, Ghaziabad
His
areas of specialization are Security Analysis and Portfolio Management,
Financial Econometrics, Financial Risk Management and Business Research
Methods. His research interests are in the fields of Risk Management,
Derivatives, and Corporate Finance. He has published several research
papers in acclaimed journals.
The
Institute of Management organized a workshop for the students and the
faculty members of CHRIST (Deemed to be) University, Delhi, NCR Campus
on Logistic Regression through Orange, an open-source data mining, data
visualization and machine learning toolkit. It features a visual
programming front-end for explorative data analysis, interactive data
visualization and can be used as a Python library.
The key learnings from this session were:-
•
Insights on logistic regression and linear probability model. Logistic
Regression is a technique borrowed by machine learning from the field of
statistics. This is a very effective algorithm, used for problem
classification and predictive analytics.
The
resource person explained it using examples from different fields to
give the students a clear understanding about the logistic regression
concept.
•
The resource person introduced the ‘Orange’ software by giving insights
on ‘How to use Orange software’, classification and clustering of data
and the forecasting and link analysis of data into useful information.
The session was summarized with the help of a case study.
