Guest Lecture by Dr. David R. (Cornell University)

The Economics Department of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Delhi NCR organized a guest lecture on 8 January,2020 by Dr. David R. Just from Cornell University who spoke on the topic, ‘Subject Matter of Behavioral Economics and its Relevance in Success of Public Policies and Programmes'.
The Professor spoke on topics such as the various theories and approaches in Behavioral economics, reference based decisions and the importance of framing when it comes to behavioral economics.
The sessions conducted by him provided the students present in the audience with an idea of the subject matter of behavioral economics and how it is related to our day-to-day life, from the smallest consumer decisions to the biggest executive decisions, behavioral economics is present everywhere.
Towards the end of the lecture, there was a Question and Answer (Q&A) session where the students and faculty members present in the audience interacted with Professor Just. Questions were raised about the importance of ethics in the field of research and how to know where to draw a line when it comes to the experiments in the field of behavioral economics. The session was overall very productive and enhanced the students’ knowledge about the emerging discipline.
The Q&A session was followed by a vote thanks by Dr. Reeta Tomar, along with the presentation of memento to the Guest speaker by Dr. Joshy K.J. The programme concluded with the University Anthem.
