Bhasha Utsav and Ethnic Day

On 5th October 2019, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) celebrated Bhasha Utsav which was organized by the Department of Languages. This festival celebrates diverse cultures and ethnicities. The college premises were decorated with flowers and rangolis.
The programme began with a procession from the main gate to Block A entrance space which was accompanied by a dance performance by the support staff. The drum beatings by our director Father Dr. Viju PD and Dr. Merlyn Sharma, Coordinator and the Head of the Department of languages marked the beginning of the cultural performances by Christites and professionals. There were many folk performances to showcase the cultural diversity starting from Tiruvathira, Garba, Lavni and Bhangra. Dhol and Chenda performances by the professionals stole the show. Prizes were also given to the male and female faculties for the best ethnic wear and also to the best performances.
The programme ended with a battle between Dhol and Chenda Melam and the DJ by DJ Rajan. Students were dressed in their ethnic dresses and added colour and splendor to this festival.
