Bookmark 2019


Christ Deemed to be University, Delhi-NCR conducted its first book exhibition, Bookmark 2019, on the 6th and 7th August 2019 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the college premises. The inaugural session occurred with the presence of the Chief Guest Dr. Youd Vir Singh (Head of Library and Documentation division – AIU), Dr. Denzil (Member of Legislative Assembly of UP), Fr. Viju (Director), Fr. Sunny (Administrator), Dr. Vinod Sharma (HOD - MBA) and Mr. Sreekumar Nair (Chief Librarian of Christ Deemed to be University). Faculty members and PG students were also present in the session.


The inaugural session lasted for about an hour. It involved the invocation song and the lighting of the lamp, a welcome address by Mr. Jerush John Joseph followed by the Inaugural Address by the Director, Fr. Viju.P.D, valuable words from the Chief Guest and Dr. Denzil’s felicitation. The event also contained a book release by Dr. Denzil and the Campus Administrator (The Handbook of Research on Cross – Cultural Business Education by Dr. Vinod Sharma). Dr. Vinod Sharma shared his experience regarding the preparation of this book, following which, Fr. Viju and Dr. Youd Vir Singh together cut the ribbon and inaugurated BookMark 2019.

A library orientation session for PG students was conducted in the seminar hall Block A, 3rd Floor from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Dr. Youd Vir Singh and Mr. Sreekumar Nair interacted with the students in the session. Dr. Youd Vir Singh explained the importance of library with many interesting facts about the library. Mr. Sreekumar Nair updated the students on online databases, Christ campus library usage and the facilities provided to the students.

The book fair was a spectacle to watch with books on wide range of topics like management studies, psychology, political science, law, economics etc. Every stall was very impressive. It was crowded with students and faculties. They utilized the opportunity to recommend and purchase subject text books and reference books for their respective subject streams. Student volunteers were entrusted to guide the students to the stalls and to help the faculties and stall representatives to get the requisition forms.
Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Taylor and Francis, World Scientific, Manohar Publishers, LexisNexis, Viva Books, Sage Publishers, Bharatiya Sahitya Bhavana, Scientific books and technical books publishers, Wadhwa & Company and Aditya Books participated in the exhibition. We provided tea and lunch for the stall representatives. The response was highly tremendous as many aspiring young readers including the faculty members were seen gorging on many subject based books. Faculties and students recommended a total of 426 books to library.
